Farmall 300 Cigaratte Lighter

I recently bought a replacement cigarette lighter from OEM Tractor Parts. I know it should be simpler than I am making it, but how do you get this to fit into the dash. The lighter is assembled and I assumed the outer cover needs to be taken off to do this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi, Kevin.

I don't know about OEM's lighters in particular, but all the automotive lighters I've ever seen have an outer shell that unscrews and slides off an inner core. In most cases you can see the threads at the back (far end) of the lighter assembly. Then you insert the core through the hole in the panel (from the front) and screw on the outer shell from behind the panel.

If this description doesn't help, take the part to an auto parts store or Radio Shack and they should be able to show you.
