grease seal, Model H hydraulics

I want to replace the grease seal where the shaft comes out of the transmission, and goes thru the coupling to the hydraulic pump.

I got the coupling out and the 3 bolts that hold the grease seal retainer but the retainer does not come off over the piece with the big slot in it.

I am guessing that the part with the big slot should come off the shaft but how?
I dont want to break anything.
Thanks guys!

Search the forum for 'countershaft nut' or 'countershaft nut removal' and it should come up. I changed mine last winter. You need to drain the oil or park on an incline so it doesn't run out. I did it by putting the tractor in 5th gear with the engine off and the brakes on and wheels blocked. Then I put a 24" crescent wrench on the pump drive shaft, against the cotter pins so it would grip and it came loose. It unscrews in the normal right hand direction as I recall.

Thank you for the reply.
there is no nut or bolt there
There is a part with a large slot on the countershaft and it is stuck.

How do you get the part with the large slot off of the countershaft?
