Was looking thru tractor want ads and ran across this tractor. It's a 3688 - TX prototype that never went into production. You can find it in , myfarmads.com . If it never went into production wonder where this guy got it from? It showes a picture of the inside of the cab. I think the controls are different. If it is a prototype should it be in a museum?

That tractor is only about 15 minutes from me. Whats do different about it? My guess would be the steering wheel controls.

Its been for sale for several years. I see this time there is no price set, maybe the owner really does want to unload it.

When IHC ag was sold to Tennaco test mules were sold off to people close to or employees of the R&D department or so the story goes. Maybe Guy Fay will chime in with more details.

From what I"ve heard about this tractor, it"s not really that different from the production 3688"s to make it a "gotta have" collectors item. The shifting while in a different location and I believe being a constant-mesh gear-box, is still the 16 speed Torque Amplifier transmission. But with all that stuff in the steering wheel(which may or may not work and good luck getting it to) and a different dash cluster, you would think some collector would jump on it.
