F20 sediment bowl

My F20 started leaking gas out of the plug/breather in the bottom of the carb with the gas shut off. I drained the gas out of the tank, took the sediment bowl out of the tank, used carb cleaner, blew it out with air, wire brushed everything twice and it still leaks past when the gas is off, Did I miss something, or is it time to replace it? I believe it's the original from '39.

The carb needs some attention. Needle and seat is not shutting off the flow in the carb. The float may be getting heavy or it could just be crud stuck on the seat. Check/clean the screen on the fuel inlet while your at it.

These carbs have a hard time holding back a full tank of fuel when everything is perfect, so its highly recommended to turn the fuel off at the sediment bowl every time.
(some turn the fuel off and let the tractor run until it dies) but if your carb is bad they will still leak off the fuel in the line

big, Rice equipment had new needles for your bowl shut off and yes you need to check needle, seat and float in carb should hold fuel with out leaks. oldiron29

The previous owner rebuilt the carb last year but I can't remember if he said he put a new needle and seat in. Guess I'll pull it apart again and go through it. Thanks for the info, all.
