What kind of oil do you recommend for a 1957 cub tractor?, engine, transmission, and rear end. Would 10w30 Pennzoil be good for engine and hydraulic and gear oil be good for the rest? Thanks again.

didnt see any body respond yet, so i'll give er a whirl. i run rotella 15-40 diesel service in my old gas tractors and they seem to like it fine. the bearing tolernces were a little looser on the old motors, so a little thicker is better. for the hydraulic system i run i-h hy-tran or equivalent, and the differential, 80-90 or 85-140 wt, what ever is on sale. the new lube oils are a lot better than what was available when the tractor was first built.

3 1/2 pints in the trans
farmallcub.com has info as you should remove the shifter and clean a hole front and back on the trans to allow oil to certain bearings
drop the pans on the finals and refill the pans lightly so that it dosn't run out when reinstalled
don't forget to change oil in air breather, 30 wt

good luck
Ron
