460 injecter issue

Father in law has a 460 utility diesel that has been running ruff. Used a temperature gun found one injecter not firing. Has sprayed it with wd-40, pb blaster, and used a air chisel nothing seems to knock the injecter loose. Tried running tractor to heat area up but nothing seems to help, any help would be appreciated

Instead of wd 40 and pb blaster use either Break-a-way or kroil. There are some who also recomend ATF and also diesel fuel. Also apply at least 4 or 5 times a day for at least 3 or 4 days or longer for it to soak in. Also VERY LIGHT TAPS with a SMALL HAMMER AS YOU APPLY THE PENT. OIL. tAKE YOUR TIME AND DON"T RUSH IT. Yep they can be a little hard to get out , a brass drift and a really good hammer and bounce it , in other words hit DOWN on it but not close to the hold down ears . then spray some more and do it again . Then you can try tapping it in the sides of the ears with the brass drift and here a gain TAPPING and try and get it to turn a bit each way . A good set of injector pullers are a big help but something not in everybodys tool box.

The ones that i use are MAC tools and are two small ladys foot pry bars . BUT BEFORE YA USE THEM the injector has to MOVE or you can snap off the ears off the injector body . The reason that they are stuck so bad is the fact that that hole has had some compression leakage over the years and carbon build up is what has it stuck . and when this happens they can be a real bear to get out and vary time consuming . Many years ago there was a product called carbon off that would eat it's way down thru and help loosen stuff stuck with build up carbon , well along comes the EPA and it went down the road with a lot of other products that did work . So now we have to find something that will work and that can be a chore . Myself i use Zep penetrating fluid and have for more then 40 years , why do i stick with this , because it works and works far better then anything else and i have tryed them all . With the Zep it is like Brilcream a little dab will do ya . And when used with the spray tube so you can place it wright where ya need it ya don't waist it and a little goes a long way . YEa i know it is hard to find as it is not something you will find at Wal Marts . As for finduing a product that will give ya instant results ain't ah going to happen . Myself i have spent hours getting some of them out as not to damage anything . So take your time as your time is cheap PARTS ARE NOT .

IIRC, these are about the same as my MD injectors. I have some pictures of the puller I made in the parts and pieces section.

This isn't the tool that got the precups out in the end. I built a heavier plate with a 1/2" nut welded to it and used a very large slide hammer.

If your injectors are not 2 piece injectors this might not work out for you, but it might give you an idea on where to head.
