Farmall M gas tank repair options

First--I just want to say how grateful I am to all the great advice I have gotten on this website. Thank you!

My Farmall M has a ding in the lip of the gas tank filler hole, where it seals up against the rubber gasket on the gas cap. So when my tank is full gas tends to leak from this spot.

Can anyone advise on what repair options (if any) exist to fix something like this? Or do I have to replace the tank?
 
There is a tool made for inserting into that tank neck to re-shape the neck getting rid of the ding. Someone on this site sells them. An older Case-IH dealer may have one to loan you. I was also told that a radiator shop may be able to help fix the problem. I simply made a thicker cork gasket and tightened up the tangs on the cap and I have eliminated most of my leakage. I.e. a drop now and then instead of a large splotch when going down a steep grade.
