I have a 1948 W9 with 14 X 34 rear tires. Is that the correct size? my son just purchased a WD9 it also has 14 X 34 rear tires. Is that the correct size? When the 2 tractors are side by side mine sits higher both have about the same amount of tread what would cause this. Thank you.

yes that is the correct size they came with. the updated correct size is 16.9 x 34. 18.4 x 34 is not correct unless its a super model as they are a wider rim and mounts with only bolts instead of the clamps and bolts. air pressure , tire wear and different tire brands can have height difference.

I have seen W-9s with 30 and 38 inch wheels. Were they after market specials? Or were they ordered that way from the factory?

Number of plies affects height. Those tractors should have 6 ply tires, 8 ply would be higher, 4 ply lower.

I can remember back in the 50's-60's that some different brands of tires sat higher than others. We once had a set of Goodrich tires that set a lot higher than other brands of the same size on the same size rims.
