F400 Hydraulics Questions And Such...

Will the gas tank size dictate where the right & left ports are located? My 400, gas, has the 18 gal. tank, the ports are mounted under the tank & facing out/front. The 400 gasser in the manual has the 21 gal. tank, the ports mounted to the hydraulic reservoir(?) & facing out the side. The 400 LP has the R/L ports oriented the same as my 400. Are the junction ports & their metal lines, on my 400, interchangable with the 460/560? I guess I'm just trying to figure out if the last owner of my tractor swapped out more parts I didn't know about or if my tractor was originally an LP (the tag ain't much help, it just says 4070). Which would greatly exite me & I might do a happy dance. I always wanted an LP tractor & would want to convert it back, post-haste.

One other thing, whilst I have your attention, I don't suppose there's a place that fixes or has parts for the old break-away that came with the remote on my H? I have a leaker on the right connection when connected & just don't like giving up on original pieces, ESPECIALLY the H! 'Tis an heirloom. Thanks, Mike

The 18 gallon hydraulic remote bracket is weak due to cantilever forces. The 21 gallon hydraulic set up is much better. I opted to use the 21 gallon bracket and lines on my 400 LP. They pointed in the right direction for my application. As I had a set they were free as well

The 460-560 lines won't fit. The valve bodies are arranged on edge horizontally whereby the 400-450 are stacked like dominoes on end.

I rebuilt a 400 break-away coupling several years ago. I think the parts came from IH and The Parts Depot.
