i have a farmall m 51 model i have a IH live pump to put on it i checked every thing has the right # of teeth and correct bolt pattern but i don't know how to plumb it i know it plumbs in to the belly pump does it use the belly pumps relief valve system or does it have its own do you have to disengage the belly pump so it can't be turned on at all with this hooked up

I do not know which pump you have, so I will recommend two things.
I would put a relief valve in it, on the pressure hose. I would probably purchase a set of valves with an adjustable pressure relief built in (set to 1200psi). I would not use the belly pump for a reservoir as it is below the level of the pump, and makes priming difficult. I would purchase (or fabricate) a reservoir of about 8qts. or so. The valving could be for either single acting or dual acting cylinders, with the return to the reservoir. I would continue to use the belly pump if it is operational, as it would give me more options. I would use hytran in the new system as well as the belly pump. Jim

Regardless of which live pump you have, it plumbs basically the same way.

You can use the belly pump as a reservoir only. None of the belly pump plumbing or valving is used.

You hook a hose from the drain on the bottom of the belly pump to the intake on the pump.

You hook a hose from the output on the pump to the in port on an open-center two-way valve.

You run a hose from the out port on the two-way valve to the fill pipe on the top of the belly pump.

That's pretty much it. Make sure the two-way valve has an adjustable relief valve built-in.
