same tractor, different issue so I thought I'd make a new post.

tractor ran well (no carb problems at first) but got real hot because radiator wasn't circulating. I shut it down and let it cool off, went back to start it and it wouldn't run right. only idles well when it's almost fully choked. can't figure out where it's sucking air from, but if it got real hot could it have warped or cracked something that's letting this extra air in? what should I check?

thanks for any advice.

I would check the intake manifold gasket first. I use a non-flammable cleaner and spray it around the manifold with the engine running. If there is a leak and it get's sucked in the engine will run real rough for a second.. I use a non-flammable brake cleaner.

Check what jeff said and if that doesnt find it worth a try to do a compression test to see if its a bad head gasket, just an idea.

Ver, I would think it is starving for fuel if you have it on full choke? If it where sucking air it would run good with choke closed?
