Amp Gauge Question

My newly installed Amp Ga. reads discharging at med to high RPMs, And charging at idle to low RPMs. Is it possible to hook it up backwards? I didn't see any markings on the gauge. It's a 1 wire Alt. on a Super A if that matters. Thanks.

Sounds like you n Rusty have it figured out. Id simply just turn on the lights and ignition (assuming its a coil ignition) when shes NOT running and if the ammeter swings over to + charge versus - discharge as it should YEPPERS ITS WIRED BASS ACKWARDS. Such can happen if a tractor is converted from a Positive ground genny system to a Neg ground alternator and the dude forgot to reverse/swap the ammeter leads. If its a coil ignition the coil leads should have also been swapped if it was changed from Pos to Neg ground
