Anyone know why a 1967 cub did not have a temp. gauge. If it did where is the sending unit plug hole? As usual thanks for all replies.

IMHO, on the thermo-siphon cooling systems like those found on Cubs, the F series, A's, B's & C's, IH engineers didn't want you to know how hot they were running, so they didn't include heat guages on them. (My $0.02 worth. jal-SD)

Ah good. A conspiracy theory.

Let's make it complete: The Federal government put mind-control drugs in the antifreeze, and used the steam from the thermosiphon systems to administer the drugs to farmers, so they would continue working and making cheap food for the masses. As we all know, a fed population is a happy population and not likely to revolt against its government.

In reality, the thermosiphon systems work extremely well if kept clean. The problem is that farmers didn't maintain the systems properly, and all the rust and scale buildup reduces efficiency.

Pressurized pumped systems are much more tolerant of neglect.
