super c clutch redo

I overhauled my s-c engine , and put in a new clutch but reused the pressure plate. After reassembling the clutch does not disengage all of the way causing grinding when trying to go into any gear. I adjusted the pressure plate as far as it would go through the hand hole cover, And it is improved but still not right. I plan on having flywheel machined this time and I have the new pressure plate.Question is do I need to check the new pressure plate adjustment , Or is it safe to assume they are adjusted correctly out of the box ? I bought the pressure plate from this site. Clutch was never a problem before, But I assume that the problem was due to the new clutch lining being much thicker than the old worn out one. Thanks in advance for your help !

Pressure plates are adjusted out of the box!
Unless you have good measuring tools, and the solid evidence that things are wrong, leave the screws alone. Your new friction disc could be put in backwards, it must have the cushion springs in the middle facing away from the flywheel. If they are forward, the springs and hub interfere with the bolts on the FW. and the clutch fingers are too far depressed and it will not adjust. A bent friction disk (from even modest force being used to put the tractor back together can also cause drag.
A improper Throwout bearing is also a suspect.
If the fingers are depressed more than about flat to the disk, I suspect the plate is in backwards.
Best of luck. Jim
