560 running hot

I recently bought a 560 gas and just running it around the lot and tinkering with it, the block felt rather warm. I removed the thermostat and found it to be stuck. I replaced it but it still seems to heat up plenty. When I look in the radiator, I hardly see any movement. How much movement. This has me thinking waterpump but should I be checking somewhere else? I do not have bubbles or chunks floating in coolant. I have checked the coolant temp and it is not that hot 170-180 but for not being worked it just seems hot. I have more exp. with M's than the 6 cylinders. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like the thermostat is doing its job. The block should be hot enough that you can't hold your hand on it. If you are putting around the engine will not get hot enough to open the thermostat. You don't have to worry until it gets over 195 to 200 degrees.

You may need to check your pump impellers for wear. Check the fins on the radiator to make sure there's no dirt or grass blocking the air flow. Hal

You are fine. Get a new temp gauge and keep it out of the red, if numbers, below 212. Pressurized system combined with antifreeze will keep it from boiling until 220+, I don't remember the details. I much prefer the 180-200 range under heavy load, just to be safe.

Thank you for the advice. I have a waterpump coming and will install it, more or less to let me feel more confident. Also the temp gauge is in the process also. Should I be able to see good flow or is it pretty well concealled?
