Anyone remove the oil pan from a 574? Can it be removed without splitting it or removal of the bolster? I want to access the lower end. Anyone with direct experinece that can help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Allen

Can you expand on the answer a little please?. Are there just bolts on the sides that hold the pan in? Then remove the 4 bolster bolts on the pan and it should drop? I see on the gasket in my hands there are holes along the back side of the pan. No bolts there? Thanks for any additional help you can give me. Allen Jones, South Dakota.

Remove the bolts from the front end that bolts to the pan. Remove the bolts in the back of the pan that bolt to the clutch housing. In the back of the pan there are hidden bolts you will have to use and extension to remove them. If i remember there are 4 across the back in the webbing of the pan. I have always used a little floor jack under the pan to let it down easy the pan is a little on the heavy side. When you install the new gasket make sure you also replace the two little black wedges that go at the back of the engine. When you remove the old pan gasket look for them at the back of the engine. Make sure you install them back in with some permatex or you will have a big leak.
