674 brake lock

Brake lok wont hold. Adjusted cable no help.Where is the brake lok band located on this tractor.

Hi Dodge, the parking brake band is on the transmission output shaft in front of the differential. Basically in the rear end casting under the seat.
If the parking brake will not hold anymore and the cable is not broken, then someone in the past has driven this tractor with the parking brake engaged and the parking brake band and possibly the drum is all chewed up and is either settled to the bottom of the transmission or it is in the hydraulic filter.
Very many $$ to replace, fenders, fuel tank, seat and hydraulic housing has to come off top of transmission.

This is a common problem with this series of tractors.
