First post here. Was referred to the site by another member that I work with.
I am a new tractor owner, but not new to tractors. Spent many summers working on my uncles ranch driving his green iron. Nothing against them but my taste has always leaned more towards the Farmall/IH tractors. When I was given the chance to pick up a 54 Super M-TA that had a du-al loader on it, I jumped at it. I've used it around the place here for a few days and love the power.
The power steering decided to lock up on me the other day and in my impatience to get it unstuck, I forced the wheel back to the right. It took considerable effort but I ended up shearing off one of the roll pins inside the power steering box above the hood. I pulled the unit off, tore it down, and discovered what had happened. There is a sleeve that the steering wheel shaft goes through and on the end of this sleeve there are two grooves that are cut at an angle where it comes into the reservoir area of the box. There is another sleeve that goes over this there also. A piece had broken off of the inner sleeve and had wedged between the steering shaft coupler and the bottom of the reservoir.
I need to locate another sleeve and a pair of seals (16028 CR stamped on them). Any ideas about where to come up with this stuff. I'm already watching another box on ebay in the event that the parts aren't available somewhere.
Any help would be most appreciated.
