Farmall M transmission

I am working on 4th and 5th gear on an M and I"m looking for 2 gears. One slider gear has 34 teeth and the gear that meshes inside it has 28 teeth. Where do I find these gears to replace them? The reason for replacement is it pops out of 5th gear. I went to International, have checked online, and every place says that inner gear is supposed to have 20 teeth. I need a 28 tooth sprocket.

Interesting, a I-6 tractor used 23 teeth, never heard of 28. Must be parts from some specialized equipment IH sold or aftermarket gears. If there's 28 teeth were 4th and 5th sliding gear locks on I suppose theres 28 teeth that drives the constant mesh gear. If so the tractor must be plenty fast unless it has a special ring and pinion to slow it down. You may have to replace the transmission input shaft with standard M parts along with a constant mesh gear if needed, unless parts are found. Does the 4th and 5th sliding gear have a IH part # on it.

Thought of something else, does this tractor have a shift mechanism going in the left side of transmission housing? Does the gear have a # starting with a letter H and another letter? I'm not that familiar with heisler 9 speed aftermarket transmissions, but I'm thinking at one time they made one with the highest speed range gear on the rear of the input shaft and the 4th and 5th sliding gear locked on it for 5th. Could be what you have and if so it was made by heisler corp. Long out of buisness.

Yes, it is Heisler 9 speed- it has HM30399 and HM30535. I need to find these parts if anyone knows where to find them. I will try the phone number from the other reply. Thanks for your responses.

Ok, those gears are not your standard M tranny gears, they are made by Heisler specifically for their 9-speed attachment. Good replacement parts are hard to find!
