1206 vs 1256

any body ever run a 1206 and 1256 side by side,pulling the same load?how do they compare?how wide was the 'gap'?I know factory ratings were only about 10 hp different

Guess I prefer the 1256. Never ran them side by side. More a transmission shifter issue than power issue. My 2 100ths of a buck.

I have ran both tractors but not side by side. There were a few years in between but the 1256 I ran had quit a bit more that my 1206 did. More torque. I never owned a 1256 but did a 1206. I have heard stories of 1256's running 140 hp.

We have both here at our place. My grandpa bought them both brand new. Our 1256 will walk away from the 1206 under load. Both are great tractors. The ole man swears up and down the 56 series were some of the best IH ever made.
