1466 injection pump

Injection pump started leaking bad on the 1466 so i got an injection pump from the salvage yard, it is from a 1566. I was reading in the IT book tonight about the install and it says that the 1466 needs to have the flywheel at 18 degrees BTDC but some 1566's need to be at 15 BTDC. I assume it should be set at 18, but i thought i would ask on here just to make sure. Also is there any other do's and don'ts that should be done, never swapped out a pump on an IH before? Thanks for any help.

18 is where I would put it.

Just want to make sure the pump head is not 180 out. There is an internal timing mark under the side cover which is held on by four screws. This pump drives at crankshaft speed instead of camshaft speed. It is also a good idea to make sure metering valve is not stuck. I have seen this on several pumps that have set on a shelf. You access this under the same cover.

Good luck!

Thanks for the information, if the lines are matched under the pump cover and the flywheel is at 18 degrees it should be on time? As far as i know they just pulled the pump off of a 1566 because they didnt have any more from a 1466, hopefully it is right, I probably should have just had this one rebuilt, but time will not allow for it right now. Thanks again for the help.
