I have another problem I found with my multi meter that I have 6.25 volts on battery side of
switch and 4.52 on starter side. I have a NAPA switch now. Where should I get or who makes a good heavy switch? Now I know why the starter is cranking slow. Oldiron29

Good luck finding a good switch. However, the bigggest problem with the switch on the M is the way it is mounted. Most of the time, stomping on the lever or pin that operates the switch results in something other than a straight push on the button and therefore causes poor contact internally and damage to the switch. I have done several different modifications on them to get them to push straight but most are less than perfect. I personally like the switch mounted up on the steering post like on most of the H tractors. This works well if converted to 12 volts but with a 6 volt system it requires a lot of pressure to get a solid contact so does not work as well. Then the other option is magnetic switch operated by a push button but most of them cannot handle a heavy 6 volt current load or at least not for very long. So, back to square one.

i think the switchs all come from the same factory in mexico. they have about half of the copper in them that they should have to last. if you don"t care about being 100% original use the switch to power a soliniod on the starter like a 450 has.
