886 no stop.....

Okay, posted yesterday about my 886 not moving. Checked everythint out & added a few extra gallons on fluid to the system. It worked. Started rolling up some hay, got about 10 on the ground, pushed the clutch in & now it won't stop. It will partially dis-engage (slows it down) but thats it. Adjusted out the linkage according to the IT manual & it worked fine for two more bales, then the same thing again. What do you guys think?
Thanks,
Matthew

It is the throwout bearing. If you take the plate off under the clutch you will find the pieces laying at the bottom. I bet you didn"t know there was a grease fitting for the throwout bearing up in there. We just did all that to our 806 last year. I put a grease line to a bulkhead fitting in the plate so I can grease it from under the tractor without having to remove the plate.

While your in there look at the constant drive spline that goes into the back of the pressure plate if it is worn excessively change it. That runs your PTO and hydraulics. if that has the TA it is real easy to replace that just 3 bolts and pull out. Change the pilot bearing while your in there too. I just cut them out with the torch. Becareful about the heat if you do.I cut the race out then knock the pieces out then cut the other race out.

Allright, I'll pull the plate & Give her a check, was afraid that was the road I'll have to take. Nope, didn't know about the grease fitting either. I will pull the plate & check it out ASAP. Right now there is too much other stuff to do.

You can't change the throwout bearing or the constant drive gear through the plate. The tractor needs to be split, just so you're aware what you're getting yourself into.
