stuck in low range

I am trying to help out a friend and am not sure some of the information he gave me is correct. He says he has a Case 485 (used to be his fathers) that is an Ih with different decals. His problem is that it is stuck in low range. He said it happened once before, but started working on it's own. Can anyone help with the problem?

If this has the shifting levers on the left side of the seat when sitting there. The linkage is out of sync under the platform. Just take the guard off around the levers and watch how it works you can wiggle things to straighten it out. Our 574 does it once in awhile. Been that way for 20years now. Propbably should get it in one winter and go through the linkage and change the parts that are worn out.
