farmall distributer problems ?

change out my distributer out for a high perforcemence one from dennys - wired it the same as my old one but when i started it , it ran but when you throttle it up a bit , it started to cut out , tried a couple of more times and notice smoke coming from the distributer cap - looks i burnt the brains out of it - BUT DON"T KNOW WHY - LET ME KNOW

Two Ideas: The way the old one was wired may have little to do with the way the new one needed to be wired.

First problme was it came from Dennys, see the archive for posts on Dennys. Id suspect you got a 6 volt version, and youre running 12 volt?
