I HAVE A 42 H THAT THE REAR LEFT WHEEL WILL OCCASIONALLY LOCK UP WHILE MOVING. ITS A LITTLE SCARY. IF I PUT IN REVERSE AND BACK UP AND THEN GO FORWARD AGAIN IT SOMETIMES WILL STOP IN THE SAME PLACE AND THEN IBACK UP AGAIN AND IT WILL WORK FINE.THIS DOESNT HAPPEN OFTEN ONLY A FEW TIMES IN THE PAST FEW YEARS.ANY IDEAS?THANKS

Raise the wheel and turn it by hand, the brake may be adjusted too tight. Doubtful if it has been that way for years if you use it regularly, though.

When you jack up the "offending" side, notice how much up-down and side-to-side play there is. Your axle bearing may be very worn causing a gear to lock up.
Remove the brake cover and check the brake pinion bearing by moving the brake drum up & down.

While you have it up, try to rock it in and out. Sounds to me like you have a broken axle bearing.
