Local dealer just qouted me $6000, thats with them removing and reinstalling as well as replacing clutch components. Seems awfully high to me. I dont have the time or facility to doo it myself. I will shop around but am hoping for some insight on what it should cost. After the t/a is done she is going to get fitted for a new set of dress clothes!

Dave I had a TA put in a 1086 about 2 years ago.

It cost around $3800 for the TA and new clutch.

It was installed by a local private shop. He charges $35 an hour and gives you a hour of work for a hours pay.

Fighting splitting a 1086 with cab and air is harder than a 06.

Parts should easily be under $1500.I charge $1000(Iknow i am way to cheap) for a cabless tractor.

I dont "need" it, but will be restoring the tractor and want it mechanically correct before any painting is done.

That sounds really high. I would imagine they quoted it out of a flat rate manual. You could contact another dealer and get their price and then you would know how they compare. We have two independent shops that charge about $50 and hour and they are real good with the old iron. A friend had a TA and clutch put in an 806 a while back for about $3600. If you don't have the shop or the tools you are going to have to pay someone to do it. There isn't any good answer.

After market TA $695.00 . Rebuilt clutch and pressure plate and bearings $345.00 . Labor, 16 hours for a tractor with out a cab. 20 hours with a cab. Should be some where around $1900.00 to $2300.00. NO way $6000.00 . CIH does carry a heavy duty TA for $1500.00
