coolant change

Hi. I am new around here. Just bought a 1466. I realize that is a wet sleeve engine and I want to change the coolant. Will any 50/50 work? If you buy concentrate, do you need distilled water to mix? My buddy told me to put JD Cool Gard in there with conditioner in there but doesn't the water filter already have conditioner? Can the water have too much conditioner? The previous owner never changed the coolant. Do I need to flush the system before adding new or do i just drop and refill? From now on, if i change the water filter, how often should the coolant be changed? Thanks.

If you are not using premix with the dc4 additive in it, use distilled water and then either a precharge filter or regular filter and add the liquid prechaqe DC4A additive. I think a pint and a half will give you correct amount of conditioner. I would try to flush it out also.

I just flushed the cooling system on my 300. Used 1/2 lb Cascade dishwashing powder and ran it for an hour. Worked good. Coolant looked clean but brown water came out with the soap.
