I300 utility stalled - Now will not start

tractor stalled after working about 15 to 20
minutes. Will now not start, tries to run but fires
out exhaust pipe? Have had tractor about 10 months
normally easy to start as long as you catch it when
it first fires; otherwise seems to flood? Replaced
plugs, points, condenser, cap and rotor all appeared
old. Spark at all four plugs. Please help with
suggestions?

Timing check needed. Remove plugs.
Put thumb in #1 plug hole
Turn by hand or bumping starter (coil wire grounded) until air blows out of #1 hole
Put a plastic straw or copper wire in the cylinder (through plug hole) to piston.
Turn slowly till wire stops moving up.
Look at timing marks and see where rotor is pointing. Timing mark should be on the TDC (last) mark in the rotation direction.
Rotor points to 1:30 (from rear)

If not like this it may have broken timing gears.

I agree with Jim....sounds like the ignition timing has slipped.

To check follow the procedure in Jim's post. Or if you have a timing light hook it to the #1 (front) spark plug then aim it at at the crankshaft pulley - correct timing will have the TDC notch in the pulley aligned with the pointer on the timing gear cover.

As Jim mentions a frequent cause of suddenly slipped ign timing on the 300 is a busted cam gear hub.

start with the basics, you got spark/fire right, now check for fuel, will she start with a blast of carb spray? if she wont run when being fed fuel and you know you have fire and your air cleaner housing doesnt have a racoon stuck in it then move on to bigger and worser things.
