I am currently over hauling the motor on a F-20 for a good friend. I was wondering if someone could tell me what the head bolts and rod bolts need to be torqued at. I have searched the archives, called the local CaseIH, and talked to some local guys who work on antique tractors but made no progress. Thanks very much in advance.

Do you have a service manual?you need one.go to Jensales or Binder Books for an 'I&T' manual that covers F series tractors. You'll be glad you did!

Service manuals while necessary are useless in this 1 case.
These tractors were built before torque values were listed in their service books because it was very rare for even a dealer to have a torque wrench at that time let alone a farmer. You have to go off modern torque value charts like from a later blue ribbon service manual. and remember these fasteners were made before bolts were graded (grade 5, grade8 ) so clean them spotless and oil them well before attempting to torque them and use the lower values.

I have an Instruction Book for an F-20, including
sectional views and parts list 6-19-37. Though it
shows valve settings etc it does not give torque
for rods and mains. Chuck

I was told to use the specs for an H when working on the F20 and to use the specs for an A or B on the F12/14s.

Thanks for all the helpful information, hope to have everything back together tommorow and have the tractor running. My good friend will be glad it was his dad's tractor and he bought it new. Thanks again.
