Production yrs Farmall Super C

Hello. I have a 1951 Farmall Super C. I have seen that they were Mfg from 1951-54. That is model years, correct. Do you all know what month/yr they started production of the Super C. Thanks All.

They weren't built in "model years", but simply built for 3 1/2 years. The first Super C was built May 9, 1951, the last October 25, 1954.

Jim Hello and THANKS so much for that information. The serial number of my tractor is fairly early 1053XX. From what I can find it is a 1951. It does not have the Fast Hitch on it. That was later on in production, correct? Don't know how many they made a month, guess that might help narrow down the month. I have heard that there is no shipping information by Models like John Deere has. THANKS AGAIN!!

Fast-Hitch was intoduced for the Super C mid-year 1953. It could be installed on any earlier C or Super C.

Production numbers varied quite a lot, not only from year to year but from month to month. Assuming a constant rate may approximate a month built, but could miss by quite a bit. WHS has monthly first built serial numbers for quite a few tractor models and years. Super C 1053XX was built on June 1, 1951. 179 Super Cs were built that day. It is rare to have that detail. No shipping records have been found.

Look on some of the major parts like the torque tube. I will have a date the was part of the mold. It will be like T * 8 * 7 where the T is the year, and the other two are the month and year. I used to have a table with a cross between the letter and the year. I have moved too many offices and I have lost it. I dont' remember if the middle digit is the month or day but someone will jump in here that knows. This is the date that the piece was forged. Should/could be within a couple of days when it was assembled.

WHS = Wisconsin Historical Society, by the way.

At one point someone posted a link to the scanned documents somewhere. They're pretty neat. I was able to determine that both my Super H and Super A were built in December of 1953!

I bought them from two geographically distinct areas, Missouri, and right here in Western New York, and ended up with two tractors that came off the line within 30 days of each other.

I had a similar thread on this forum back when I obtained my 1953 Super C and believe I remember the data that was posted here. My SC is s/n 1803XX and the records indicate it was built the last week of August 1953. It does have a fast hitch, the flat back style head lights, etc. and the items which is correct for that s/n range. Most of the casting dates on the major parts were either in June or July 1953. The date info referred to below by Randy is noted on the casting as 7 26 Y which would indicate that specific part was cast on July 25, 1953 which in fact is when the front wheel hub castings were cast - it just happens to be my mother's birthday so an easy remember. The year date code for 1951 is U or W (U was only used in the early months of the year like Jan. and Feb.), 1952 is X, 1953 is Y and 1954 is Z. If your tractor has all the major castings dated within a couple month period with U or W codes your tractor is most likely fairly original. Hope all this helps you assess your tractor and I'm sure you will like it very much as you get to use it, Hal.

In case Jim does not get back to you I clicked on my WHS link and it shows last SC for June 1951 was 105237 and last SC for July was 109031. Jim knows at least 10X what I do on this so if he comes back with something different go with his information.

WOW, you may have set a record for duplicates.
I am usually using Modern View, so the thread stacks up a little different. I'd already replied to the question:
"Fast-Hitch was intoduced for the Super C mid-year 1953. It could be installed on any earlier C or Super C.
