I bought a overrunning clutch for my H and it looks like they want you to drill a hole through the pto shaft to install a roll pin to retain the clutch assembly. Has anyboby installed one of these or is there a better clutch available

Jim did they all have the hole already drilled as I don't remember seeing one and my tractor is 275 miles away

They aren't real obvious, but are there. Before the push button keeper came along, way back in the time what used to be, PTOs were held on with a bolt thru the shaft. (1/4" ?) Later came the groove and push button thingy.

All my letter series tractors (6) have that hole in the PTO shaft. My guess is that all tractors of that era and later have that hole. My 460 also has it.

Yep BTDT and there are 2 types of ORCs some have the hole for the roll pin on the top spline area of the shaft and some in the grove. You just need to take that one back and get the correct one. Ran in to that when I tried to use one off an H on an 8N ford and found they have to different ones

This ORC is held by a 5/16" bolt and nut in the groove. Some have a spring loaded pin. Look for a hole in the shaft first. David..................
