Raditor drain plug for Cub

The radiator drain plug on my 48 cub is rusted in place. The previous owner rounded it off to the point that not even vice grips will take hold. I don't want to mess the casting up and already removed the bottom radiator to drain the system this time, but would like to remove this old plug and replace with a new one for future service. Any suggestions???

have you tried a pipe wrench also sears sells a tool you can hammer over a rounded plug or bolt I have a set and they have got me out of a lot jams

use a torch and blow it out
drill it out and rethread it
weld a nut to it and remove it
leave it be

Thanks for the reply. When I said that the plug was rounded off, I mean to the point where there is little more than a piece less than the size of a #2 pencil. I've never seen any thing so buggered up in my life. I was wondering if I should maybe tac-weld some additional surface area to it then maybe heat it up real good and see what happens. Again, I don't want to damage the casting. Is it tough enough to handle this without cracking?

Grind down to a good flat surface and drill it out. Start small and step up in size as you go. Clean out the threads and install a new plug.

on my F-20 the threads were stripped for the plug in the bottom tank, I removed the rad, got a drill bit for the next larger size, and a pipe tap, drilled it out, cut new threads and installed a regular radiator petcock.
