Got a chance to buy a 560 Deisel that needs an engine kit and cranksaft ground,has a new rebuilt cyl.head allready there. Has IH wide frt,that needs rebuilt,also has 2 pt.hitch,good tin and paint,new seat and back rest,rear tires are 16.9X38[new] Any one have an idea? I really dont need this but if price would be right I might buy.

Figure about $3,500 for the tractor, deduct $1,000 for the engine work, and deduct another $1,000 for the wide front rebuild. That leaves $500 scrap price for the tractor, and $1,000 for the new rear tires, for a total of $1,500.
 
Early 560 diesel crankshafts are not to be reground. Due to the hardening process used they are weakened if reground. I have seen many that broke after being reground. Early gasoline shafts will also break if they are used in the diesel. They are about five different shafts used between the gas and diesel that are all dimensionally the same. The latest shafts were used in both gas and diesel engines.

The kit for the D282 will run you close to $1000 to major it... Then the price of turning or getting a reground crank... None of that includes labor.
