What would cause a farmall a only to run all most completey choked ?

Take your fuel line off and see if you have good fuel flow. If you don't, you may be plugged up at the fuel bowl or inside the tank. If you have good fuel flow, then you have dirt in your carb, the first place I would look is at the needle and seat.

not getting enough fuel ,ie pluged screen in sedement bowl,dirty carb.

You either have a vacuum leak or something is plugged in the carb i would check for leaks first.
