we just installed a new generator, battery, and voltage regulator the other day and it runs. Yesterday i ran it for an hour or two plowing. Now today it will not run unless i put the battery charger on it. When i remove the charger it dies. The generator is putting out around 2-6 volts from the battery terminal on the regulator. how can i fix this problem?

The Bat terminal is connected to the Battery. Thus you are reading Battery voltage, not charging voltage. It is not charging. First polarize the generator. (with it shut off, all wires where they are supposed to be attached, and with a charged battery) Jump between the Bat terminal on the regulator, and the Arm terminal on the Regulator. This puts residual magnetism in the field of the gen. Try it if all is well great. The procedure linked will help. Jim

WOW only 2 to 6 volts on the BAT terminal (which is Battery voltage as Jim explained) sounds like a totally bad/flat/discharged battery. It must have been wired wrong oR she was running at the wrong polarity to discharge the battery so badly, I wonder if you installed the battery backwards??? I wonder if you fried the VoltGE REGULATOR

Id unhook the battery,,,,,,,, give it a good long charge,,,,,,,,verify if you are at Pos or Neg ground,,,,reinstall the battery and Polarize per Jim,,,,,, SEE WHAT HAPPENS
