706/806 Air Cleaner

Was an upright, thru the hood precleaner ever available for these tractors? I recently bought a 706 gas tractor with a large(about 10 inch diameter) plastic bowl precleaner sticking up thru the hood and am wondering if this was a factory option. Does anyone out there have any knowledge of this type cleaner?

There may have been an optional vertical air intake, but it would not have been 10" diameter. At least not on a 706. I think there are some aftermarket conversions that might still be available.
 
As far as I know it was standard on the wheatlands. I've seen it in pictures on row crops but don't know how common it was.
Unsure of the size though.

My 706 is a Wheatland. And I have seen pictures of this same bowl precleaner on other 706/806 tractors; they were mostly Farmalls as I recall.
Are there any reference materials out there that will tell about this setup?
 
THE 1206 CAME FROM FACTORY WITH a precleaner on top of hood. I don't know about 706 806 weatland cause there were nonr around here. 706 806 farmal did not have a precleaner or a factory kit.
 
I think someone put either an aftermarket precleaner or a 1206 precleaner on your tractor. A precleaner was not a factory option for the 706 or 806.
