TA clutch adj 656 Farmall

Hello, I have a 656 Farmall that the TA has slowly quit engaging. Meaning that when the lever is pulled back the tractor speed does not change. I believe the torque is still good it is just not engaging. If it were no good it would slip. I tried to adjust it the way the IT book says but that did not help.
Any thoughts? I also adjusted the main clutch to the 1 3/4" free travel.
Thanks for the help. YC

Well if it doesnt change and the ta is out you will only be in low. You can tell if your in low when you go down hill it will speed up, the engine will not hold you back in low. Or if your in 5th and you trottle down the engine wont slow you down unless you use the brakes.

Not unusual for a pin to come out of a direct drive clutch and therefore it would not shift down, on the other hand , if direct drive clutch is tore out you will only have TA drive and like poster said, will free wheel. A peek under little cover over ta should reveal problem.
