Can these be replaced by just removing the seal retainer, and of course removing the wheel and supporting the rear of tractor. thanks chris

Yes remove the cast hub or axle mount hub then remove the seal retainer and the seal. Then you are at the bearing, when I did mine I had to torch it out. I was a little concerned about the torch slag getting in the rearend but there is kind of like a cup behind there bearing so I cut out the inner race and the balls and then put a wet rag behind the outer race and went to torching. I hope this helps and I hope you have an easier time than I did. Its not a hard deal just be a little cautious not to hurt the casting. Hope I helped. Mic

I only did this when a mounted picker was on the tractor, otherwise, to me it is easier and much better to pull whole axle carrier, or at least, push axle out from inside. Caution, the inside bearing should be a two piece Bower roller bearing and care is needed on installing axle through to bull gear. Another thing, that inside roller bearing is a rather loose fitting bearing and some times people interpet the up and down play on axle to be a bad bearing.
