International 1975 574 Diesel or Gas?

I am looking at purchasing a 1975 International 574 diesel. This would be my first diesel tractor. What are the pros/cons of diesel vs. gas on this particular model tractor, other than the obvious one of fuel?

D239 diesel, great engine, was used up until the 1990's!

No gasser IH that size after the 574...diesel only.

One big pro is if the engine starts good and runs good now, it will probably never need more than regular oil and filter changes as long as you live, unless you run it hard 8 hours a day 7 days a week.

Owner wants $6,600 for tractor, bush hog, rear blade, front loader, generator and seeder. Was used for a strawberry farm for a while, then horse farm duties. Loader looks pretty rusty. Engine has 2,700 hours. Anything else to look for? Is this an OK price? I will need to get it delivered to my place, 50 miles away.

Where can I buy a retrofit ROPS for this tractor? It does not have anything now.
