My H has a Schwartz wide front. I was pulling the motor and tranny out of a '69 F250 and hooked the tailshaft on the body and lifted the front of the tractor enough to make one wheel turn.

I got off and shook the wheel and saw that the spindle was loose in the trunion. Maybe that has something to do with the wobbly steering in 5th...

Does the Schwartz wide front have replaceable bushings, or do the spindles run directly on the trunions ?

Thanks

Greg

Pictures of the COMPLETE rebuild I just did on the Schwarts WFE under my MTA. The thrust bearinds were so bad the remaining rollers had eaten into the drops. Also, the outer extension tubes had rusted solid to the center section so solid that we had to use the flame/ BFH treatment. Major PAIN, but should hold up now. Those bushings can be gotten through any good bearing house. $6 each. Two thrust bearings will be close to $30/each.

I just rebuilt my Speeco on a Farmall 504. I used A & I for parts. They had the best price I could find for (4) new bushings, (4) tie rod ends, and (2) thrust washers. Shipped was less than $300 and about $200 was just in tie rods.

Hey there Cub'n M, don't forget to hook that air intake hose back on the poor old MTA's carburetor or you'll have more than a worn out front end.
