450 Gas head

I got a 450 gas head that looks like it's cracked between the intake and exhaust valves. It's on #4 cylinder and the crack or so it looks like, is about 1" long that goes from the base of each valve. Not the 1/4" or so between the two. Can this be repaired?

Yes it can be repaired. That is a good head and worth repairing.

Go to the tractor pulling section and ask for places that might do the repair.

I just paid big bucks for this head! It looks like a crack with the naked eye but may be a casting mark or line. They want $100 to check for cracks. I got a 52 SM head now to use that is running and know that is good. Just hate to spend money on this head if it's toast.

Wow! If you brought that head to me I would magnaflux it for a buck or two. Time to look for someplace else.

So would a crack like this be easily repairable at a automotive machine shop?
