W450 D Clutch

My W450 D doesn't disengage when clutch peddle is down, tractor hadn't run for a few years and clutch did work fine when first got her run'n,is there any internal ajustment? Thanks Terry

Making sure everything is adjusted properly is good preventative maintenance, but when a clutch won't engage, or won't release, there's nothing you can adjust to change that.

Odds are the clutch disk has rusted to the flywheel from lack of use. If it's not rusted too badly, driving it around with the clutch pedal held down, and hitting the brakes will generally break it free.

Thanks,I will go for another drive tonight and have ordered a work shop manual, took inspection cover of and was no sign of rust, looks like long block was replaced at some stage so would think clutch was done but never no,motor runs perfect on gas and diesel,Thanks Terry

They can stick from just sitting. It wouldn't hurt to grease the pilot bearing, but driving with the clutch down may break it loose.

Sometimes when they break loose some of the lining comes apart and since there is no place for it to go, it gets caught between the pressure plate and clutch disc and that causes the clutch to drag. it will release, but you have to start it in gear or the dragging debris will keep the gears spinning and you can't shift into gear without lots of grinding. Dissassembly is then necessary.

I adjusted up all linkages and made a difference on 1st and 2nd gears but as been told there is probly lining loose in the works, will use as is to see if it frees up more. Thanks Terry

Hi Andy,I thingk I may have figered it out, goes into gear real easy if Tork amplifier is ingaged, all linkages are ajusted correctly.Terry
