350 gas line

My 350 gave me fits all winter with a fuel restriction. While running the fuel would stop flowing into the inline filter. I would remove the rubber fuel line between the float bowl and the inline filter, replace it and it flows fine for awhile. I've cleaned the float bowl and most of the valve that I can get to without removing it. The fuel line is is not crushed or pinched anywhere. When I remove one end of the fuel line it seems like a vacuum release. Any ideas?

Use a fuel filter for a gravity feed system. NAPA and others have them. The inline filter you have is 95% of the time too restrictive to pass fuel at just a few inches of liquid column over the filter. Just put in a piece of tubing and all will be fine, it does not need a filter if the fuel is clean. if the fuel is not clean do not put it in the tank! Jim

You do not need an inline filter. IHC saw fit to just install the sediment bowl with its screen and that system has worked fine for 60+ years. Make yourself a new fuel line out of steel brake line and your problems will disappear. These old tractors should not have rubber fuel line anywhere's in the system, to much of a fire risk. You also mention a vacuum release when you disconnect the line?, check the vent in your fuel cap. They can plug creating a vacuum that will not let fuel flow.

Thanks for the help. I can see fuel flowing into the filter and it runs for a while then it stops flowing. I disconnect and break that "vacuum" and it flows freely for awhile. Going to try cleaning the vent cap and replacing the rubber fuel lines. Thanks again for the speedy help.
