Has anyone changed a M PTO seal latly? The old one was like a double seal with washer and rubber ring. The new one IH sent is just 1 seal will this be good enough? or should I install another? Thanks Oldiron29

It is good enough. Put it in with chassis grease packing the inner seal to lube it at the startup. also put it in such that the lip runs in a different spot on the shaft. Jim

Not sure, but if the PTO shaft size is the same for the H and the M (i would think they are), then this will work:

I also agree with Jim, you should be able to get away with one modern seal. I used 2 because they were inexpensive, and I packed assembly grease between them. My PTO shaft was pretty worn where the old seals were, which was another reason I used 2. Both are placed about 1/2" further out than the originals were.

If there's no groove in the shaft it will work fine. If the shaft has a groove in it use two seals, one facing in & the other one out. I have an M I did this on
