Farmall Super C Electrical

I got a question for ya'll, my SC has got a alternator that only produces 8 volts and uses a 6 volt battery. Has anyone else seen a SC with this kind of setup, I bought the tractor this way.

It's not an "8 Volt" alternator.

It's a 6 Volt alternator. They commonly put out around 8 Volts to properly charge the battery. Just like a 12 Volt alternator puts out about 14 Volts, but you don't call it a "14 Volt" alternator.

Old Hugh McKay used to swear by the 6 Volt alternators.

I can get self exciting regulators for the 10SI series alternators with either 7.7v or 9.7v settings. With just changing the regulator the alternator can be set up for 6, 8, 12, or 24 volt systems.
