424 wont run

I have a 424 that has recently developed a problem. It wont run properly, if at all. It seems to bind up when i turn it over. If i remove the plug wires it spins fine. I checked the spark on all four plugs and they were fine. I checked compression on all cylinders, all four read 90 lbs. I spoke to a mechanic and he suggested a stuck valve or maybe a bad fuel pump. So i bought a new fuel pump, didnt help. I removed the valve cover and checked the movement of the rockers and valves and they seem to be moving fine. My father suggested it skipped time because the day before this all started, someone had gotten of the tractor with it in gear and it went on a joy ride. The tractor had ended up running into a pallet of cement blocks and spun its tires for maybe a minute. But the tiem appears to by right, with the rotor in line with cylinder one at TDC. So maybe something in the distributor got screwed up during its joy ride? Im pretty much out of ideas. Thanks in advance for any helpor info.

When you bring No1 piston to TDC on the compression stroke check the valves on that cylinder to see if both are closed. Are you sure the plug wires are in their correct firing order on the distributor cap? Sounds like something may have jumped time like a sheared woodruff key. Hal
