I paid $300 for one without wide front end and in worse shape. Great tractor after refurbishing! My answer is absolutly!

That is my plans to restore because you hardly see any wide front ends in NC. A lot of narrow.

So now fill in the blanks. What all is wrong with it. Engine locked up?? Block cracked etc etc etc. You do not give enough info to fill it all in. Ya that wide front can be worth a lot if it has not been welded up 10 time and it not full of cracks etc etc etc

ted, nah, i dont think its worth it. prolly cost a lot to fix it up. never know whats wrong with em like that.

It is a quick way to make some cash! Take the wide front off and tires maybe a couple of other things and sell the rest to the junk man! Scrap is abouy $230.00 a ton arround here. Got a 560 that is getting cut up today. Take the good stuff off and byebye to the rest. I like selling parts to people who want to restore them.Fast cash!

That's assuming it's restorable. All tractors are, I guess, but some are going to take more work and parts than others.

By scrapping, I would assume you mean parting out. When you part out a tractor you are helping other people build their own tractors. The parts have to come from somewhere because they aren't making a lot of them anymore.

In this case, there's money to be made. That tractor can be "flipped" for parts and he stands to turn his $250 into about $1000, most of that by selling front end if it's any good.

Personally, I never buy a tractor that I couldn't at least get my money back by parting it out. If you find out the engine and transmission are totally thrashed, I don't have the $$$ to go through them and get them back up to snuff.
