Thanks JimB for the reply, Yes it does move in high and low. Still the issue that it would not move in reverse. Just concerned about internal trans issues. How would you check for loss linkage ? Thanks

If the lever has been used to roughly it will actually twist the little shaft off at the side of the transmission case it can also twist just enough to not go into reverse. Don't ask how I know this just take my word for it. I have replaced several over the years. We got so we just welded the shaft together and forgot about the o-ring on it. To replace the shaft you guessed it the fuel tank and all the good stuff on top of the lid have to come off but not the fenders.

Doc, did anything happen to the sheet metal around the Hi/Lo/Rev lever that would prevent the lever full travel to Rev position? As a test, you could loosen the sheet metal and allow the Rev lever more travel rearward. There are adjustments under the shifter mechanism. An as Cat Guy said the shifter shaft into the trans can twist off. Some mechanics change via taking MCV & Hydraulic pump out and cutting a wrench handle off.

JimB,I'll check out the sheet metal. That would be great if the fix was that simple. If not, are there other approaches to fixing a cracked lever. Is it cast or could it be welded as Cat suggested?
