M stuck in reverse

i was using my M with a loader, it is stuck in reverse. it will not shift to reverse or 1st gear, it will shift to 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th but when i do that it seems to have the right brake locked which i do not have locked and it still wants to pull in reverse. it will move in reverse without shifting out of neutral

Pop the pin out of the base of the shifter and remove shifter... re-align the shift forks and reinstall the shifter...

Very common problem. Look up threads referencing "stuck in two gears" to see that you're not alone.

The ball on the end of the shifter is worn. When you went to shift out of reverse, you moved the lever diagonally instead of straight back, and the ball popped out of the 1st/reverse shifter fork.

Once you get it fixed using the advice above, you can avoid it in the future by being very careful about how you shift. Move only straight back-and-forth, and straight side-to-side.

After you get a few rocks chucked at your head for not learning after the first time it pops out, you quickly develop a habit of shifting "square."

The advice below is right although it is not really stuck in two gears. It is in reverse with no shift lever to move it to neutral. That is why you can shift into the other gears and when you do it is in two gears and locked up. You can't get into first because the rail is shifted toward reverse.
